Things I Like

This is a non-exhaustive list of things I like. Maybe you'll like some of them too.

Coding in Ruby

I don't use Ruby much for work nowadays, but it remains my go-to comfort language. It's kind of a mess, but what a glorious mess. It's nice to have a language optimized for programmer happiness.

Japanese Language

I love Japanese! I like practicing writing kanji awkwardly, and I like watching others write it beautifully. Spoken Japanese is pleasant to listen to, and Japanese music is great even if you don't understand a word.

It's fun bending my brain trying to learn a grammar so different from my native English. Japanese is unique and quirky and challenging and endlessly interesting. I took a couple of years of Japanese study at university two decades ago, and I've been learning it on and off ever since.
